Gov't employees affected by floods can avail of emergency leave

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) said that government employees directly affected by national calamities or disasters can avail of a five-day special emergency leave.

The leave may be used by employees stranded in affected areas, for urgent repair and clean-up of damaged houses, for recovery from illnesses, or for caring of immediate family members affected by natural calamity.

The special emergency leave may be availed of by affected government employees within 30 days from the first day of calamity declaration by proper government agencies/authorities.

“The Civil Service Commission sees the need to provide relief to state workers affected by natural calamities in the form of a special leave,” said CSC Chair Francisco T. Duque III. “We hope that this would give affected employees respite and ample time to distress, recharge and recover from the usually traumatic experience.”

Heads of offices are ordered to take full responsibility in verifying the eligibility of employees for the special leave.
