The Department of Education's (DepEd) regional office in Metro Manila has suspended work and classes due to the scheduled APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November.

In a memo dated August 18 and issued by Luz Almeda, director of DepEd-National Capital Region, school divisions are "informed that office work is likewise suspended" from November 17 to 20.

President Benigno Aquino III has declared November 18 and 19 as non-working holidays due to the APEC leaders' meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Almeda mentioned another memo dated August 10 that classes in the capital region are suspended on November 17 and 20.

November 17 falls on a Tuesday and 20 is a Friday. —ALG/JST, GMA News
